About the Neighborhood

Little Havana is rich in history and rapidly changing. To learn more about this vibrant community, visit the City of Miami site.

Thank you for your interest in learning about Little Havana Voices.  This project began in the fall of 2004 and had a preliminary run until the spring of 2005.  It was originally funded by a grant from Learning Innovations of Miami Dade College.

Students collected their interviews through their many contacts in the community.  So far we have had students in our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and college-level writing courses participate.

In the near future, we expect further collaboration with our colleagues in history to continue the process of collecting interviews in Little Havana and begin work on our Overtown effort.  We are hoping to digitally record the interviews to include them on this site.
