Shark Cartilage Treatment

You may have seen a product called “Shark Cartilage” in health food stores or advertised on the Internet.  Shark cartilage is made of the soft bones of the shark.  It is sold as an alternative method of cancer treatment.  However, I believe that shark cartilage is ineffective and should not be used by cancer patients.

Scientific studies show that shark cartilage is not an effective cancer treatment.  Many scientific studies have been performed, and none of them report that shark cartilage has any effect on cancer.  In fact, the United States government has ordered shark cartilage manufacturers to stop advertising their product as a cure for cancer.  The only doctors who support shark cartilage treatment are also owners of the manufacturing plants.

I have had personal experience with shark cartilage treatments.  My aunt used shark cartilage when she had cancer, and it didn’t help her at all.  It was very sad because she spent a lot of money on the pills and really believed they would help her.  Instead, she kept getting sicker.  When she realized that the shark cartilage wasn’t working, she became very depressed.  I think the false hope was a cruel torture for a dying woman.

It is clear that shark cartilage is a waste of money and nothing to cure cancer.  There are many effective conventional cancer treatments, and the people who make shark cartilage pills are using cancer patients to make money.

To protect people from becoming victims of this ineffective treatment, the government should prohibit the sale of shark cartilage.
