  Winner's Circle

Please join me in showcasing our students’ success stories.  So many of our students are winners in one way or another. Maybe they’ve won an award or have graduated.  Are they continuing their studies, or are they working successfully?  We all keep up with certain students from previous classes.  Why don’t we let others know what our “graduates” in EAP classes are doing?

CURRENT PROJECTS

I am part of a team that worked on a special FIPSE grant.  It was an exciting project.  You can read about it at http://www.mdc.edu/kendall/ewriting/ .

Professor Paula Sanchez and I have just finished  a Learning Innovations Grant called Wrangling the Wealth of the Web:  Writing WebQuests.  These great learning tools can be viewed by clicking on the title above.

My pet project is ESL WAVE (Writing About Virtually Everything).  The ESL WAVE is an "ezine" (online magazine) which is dedicated to publishing ESL student writing.  Funded by a Learning Innovations Grant as part of Miami-Dade Community College's goal of improving student learning, this site was created to provide a place where ESL students could go to view their published work, learn about different cultures and customs, and practice reading skills.

INTERESTS

I enjoy reading, listening to music, working with crafts, and teaching.  Since coming to Miami, I've also become interested in gardening and in growing houseplants.  Becoming a grandmother has completely changed my life, as you'll find out if you talk with me.
