Evaluation:
Students are expected to become proactive in their grade, which means that students will be responsible and accountable for their final grade. Your final grade will depend upon: assignments, class participation, attendance, test/quizzes, presentation, group discussions and overall attitude toward the class / peers. In each section, students will be able to earn a designated number of points as follows:
_____________________________ Points Percent of Grade
Attendance/Participation 10 5%
Homework Assignments (Tell me more) 20 20%
Group Discussion Email 25 15%
Tests (25 points per test) ____ 100 50%
Total: 200 100%
Grading System:
A = 180 or more
B = 160 – 179
C = 140 - 159
D = 120 - 139
F = < 119
Policy Against Academic Dishonesty:
Please read the section in your Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook regarding plagiarism. Any form of academic dishonesty will result in an “F” for that test or assignment.
Make-up and Attendance Policy:
Attendance is MANDATORY. Students are expected to be punctual. Failure to attend class or having a history of being tardy shall result in loss of points. Students who miss more than 3 consecutive units of 50 minutes September be withdrawn from the class. All assignments must be submitted by the due date. NO MAKE UPS will be allowed unless previous notice has been given and granted by the professor.
Withdrawal Policy:
Withdrawal from a course is not encouraged and should be considered as a last alternative. Students are responsible for submitting the withdrawal card to the Registration Office before the deadline. NOTE: Failure to attend class without an official withdrawal will result in failure of the course, It is YOUR responsibility to withdraw from the course. If your name appears on the grade roster at the end of the course, you will receive an “F”. Remember, failing or dropping out of Lab September jeopardize your future enrollment at the college. The last day to withdraw from the class and receive a “W” is March 18th
Policy regarding the use of electronic devices in the classroom:
Use of electronic devices such as cellular phones and
I-Pods, etc. will not be allowed during class time. Students will be expected to turn off or place the device on vibrate during class time. Students failing to turn off these electronic devices will be asked to leave the room. Continual failure to do this September result in the lowering of points for non-participation/attendance.
Visitors in the classroom:
In order to maintain an appropriate learning environment, only individuals that are officially registered for the course will be allowed in the classroom. Any special arrangement must be made in advance with the instructor.
