    CURRENT PROJECTS

Teaching and Learning with Technology
My educational technology text, Teaching and Learning with Technology, published by Allyn and Bacon, is in its second edition.  This text is for use in education courses and  teacher training workshops and has been adopted for EME 2040 here at Miami Dade and at colleges and universities across the nation.

Virtual College Initiatives
As one of the founders of the Virtual College and currently a professor teaching in this format, I am working to expand distance learning computer applications courses so that MDC students can get their AS in software applications online.  Look for new courses to be added during Spring and Summer 2005-6.

Learning Innovations Golden Apple Grant

With my Kendall Campus colleague, Dr. Ana Ciereszko, we were awarded a 2005-6 Golden Apple Grant to create a WebCT Mentoring Center for MDC faculty so that they can more effectively integrate WebCT into their classes. The Mentoring Center is underway along with a student training online course that orients students to WebCT.  The Mentoring Center and student training will be piloted in Summer of 2006 and made available starting the 2006-7 academic year.

Earth Ethics Institute
The Earth Ethics Institute supports and promotes earth literacy.  As one of the Core Faculty and the Homestead Campus contact, I am involved in helping my campus colleagues develop a personal awareness of earth literacy and "green" their curriculum accordingly.

United Faculty of Miami Dade College
I currently serve as Secretary in our faculty union, UFMDC.  In this capacity I assist my faculty colleagues in resolving work and academic issues and addressing their contractual concerns.  UFMDC is an organization of faculty serving faculty of which I am proud to be a part.
