In my courses,
students write essays in which they discover, refine, and support
their ideas (interpretations of the texts in ENC 1102). All papers,
including peer reviews, show evidence of the three complete stages
of prewriting, writing, and revising. All drafts are used to
determine the grade. Papers are revised and kept in file folders.
Some evaluations consist of marginal and end comments with a letter
grade on the final draft. Other evaluations consist of holistic
scores and checklists with explanations of the score.
Students actively participate in group discussions of papers during
each stage of the writing process. Students are prepared for each
discussion with appropriate copies of drafts and completed
feedback forms/memos and notations on student papers. If writing
groups are unable to finish discussions during class, students make
arrangements to complete their work outside of class.
