Grading Policy:
 

  1. Components of Grade:

      Test 1:  20 %

Test 2:  20 %

Test 3:  20 %

Comprehensive Final Exam = 40%

Students are encouraged to participate in Critical Thinking projects for Nursing Process (to be discussed during lecture). Successful completion of project may add up to10 points to total test scores.

 

  1. Grading Scale:

93-100%          A

85-92%            B

77-84%           C

69-76%           D

Below 69%     F
 

  1. Class Participation:  Class participation is an expected behavior. 

To maximize student learning, all reading assignments should be completed before class. The material will be discussed during class. Student preparation will be necessary in order to understand and assimilate these discussions.

 

  1. Tests:  All students will place all personal belongings in the front of the room

during tests. Seats will be assigned. Students arriving late will not be granted any additional time for tests. All students must abide by the MDC Policy on Academic Honesty, and must follow the Department of Nursing Policies and Procedures.

 

  1. Method of Communicating Grades:

                   Grades for each test will be distributed to each individual one week after taking

                   the test.

 

  1. Remediation:

Students who are not meeting course objectives and or requirements are responsible to seek tutorial remediation. It is the student’s responsibility to make an appointment with the course instructor for direction regarding remediation. Students who have received recommendations for remediation at the Success Center are required and responsible for presenting evidence of remediation to the assigned lecture instructor

 

  1. Make-up Tests:

            If you are unable to attend class on the day a test is scheduled, the weight of the                                                                            

            final exam will be increased by the weight of test missed. You must take the

            comprehensive final exam in order to successfully complete this course.

 

  1. Test Review

Faculty will review exam content when test results are distributed.  Students who wish to review their own test results must schedule an appointment with the faculty within two (2) weeks after receiving individual results.

 

  1. Standardized testing

At the end of the semester, students will be assessed using standardized diagnostic tests that will provide valuable individual feedback regarding mastery of course content.  This test is required.  Failure to take the test will result in a grade of “I”, or Incomplete for the course.

 

9. Attendance:

Attendance is required in order for students to successfully meet course objectives. Students who miss any scheduled lectures are responsible for acquiring missed information from another student. Promptness is expected

for each class.  Each student should sign in at the beginning of class.

 

10. Progression:

In order to progress to Semester 2, students must earn a grade of  “S” and/or “C” or higher in every nursing course required this semester.  See co-requisites.
