EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE |
| |
|
M.A.
Philosophy, University of Miami, 2008
B.A. Philosophy, Grand Valley State University, 2003
I've
taught several courses at the University of Miami since 2004 as a TA
and adjunct instructor. I'm still there currently working on my
dissertation for my PhD in Philosophy. I am now a full time
Professor at Miami-Dade College at the IAC campus, in addition to
teaching classes for the Virtual College. My main areas of interest
in Philosophy are ethics, philosophy of mind, and free will (the
focus of my dissertation). |

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY |
| |
|
I believe strongly that Philosophy is best learned in an interactive
way. To that end, I strongly encourage questioning and discussion in
my classes. In studying Philosophy, we grapple with ideas that are
at the core of our conceptions of ourselves and our place in the
world, and it is my hope that students come out of the class viewing
themselves and the world differently than they did when they came
in.

INTERESTS |
| |
|
When I'm
not doing philosophy, I enjoy reading fiction, writing, drawing,
movies, and lots of other various activities. I love the Miami
beaches and climate, though as a transplanted northerner I do
occasionally miss the seasonal changes! |
