    EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that every student has the potential to make a difference in society and that it is the job of the instructor to guide them. In fact, the more difficult the student - the greater the reward. If all else fails, however, send them to Swamp School.

    CURRENT PROJECTS

Industrial Cooperation Initiative (ICI)
A collaboration between Miami Dade College and South Florida chemical/pharmaceutical oriented companies. Companies make direct invaluable contributions to the scholarly development of MDC chemistry students. The project got underway in Fall 2003 with a “chemistry-at-work” visit to IVAX Pharmaceuticals, a division of IVAX Corporation. In Fall 2004 the project took students to the laboratories of Nova Southeastern University's College of Pharmacy.

Miami Water Watch Chemical Testing Project
A unique and compelling inquiry-based Project in which participants conduct a number of water quality tests to determine the health of lakes and streams in the Miami area.

Dynamic Elements Club
I am currently working with some great students to set up a Chemistry/Science Club serving the College and the community.
