Web Enhanced Lab Course " ANGEL Writing" Lab Level 6  (EAP1640L): 16 weeks

Students will access a web page containing online instructions to receive an introduction to the online learning tool ANGEL (A New Global Environment for Learning), instructions on how to use it, and sign up for e-Writing (the distance-learning course currently used at Miami Dade College). They will select 10 lessons to be completed successfully before the given deadline. The final Post-Test score for each e-Writing lesson will be worth 5% of the final grade (80% is the passing score).. Students must access the ANGEL Calendar to check dates and complete one lesson per week. ANGEL will be available online so students may work using their PCs at home, or on campus (Computer Courtyard, Library, Open Lab). They will not be required to attend writing lab sessions to complete their tasks.

  • Writing Assignment # 1: Self-introductory paragraph (5points)

 

Students will write a 5-10 sentence paragraph on Microsoft Word 2003 plus and submit it on ANGEL (TurnItIn box only), using the MLA style. Late assignments will not be accepted. Please  research and learn how to use MLA style of academic writing.   

 

Week 3 Students work on selected eWriting assignments. All Pre-Tests and lessons must be completed before taking every Post-Test, and students must follow the strict order given for the e-Writing activities in each selected lesson. Passing Grade: 80% on lesson "post test".

Sept 16
  • Chat Room Participation (5points)

Chat Room Activities Scheduled as Follow: 19:00 (7PM)-20:00 (8PM)

People, who missed the Chat Room activity will write a paragraph(5-10 sentences) on The person who has impacted my life the most and submit it on Angel (TurnItIn box: "Other")

All students must participate at the assigned times (daytime/evening), which will be opportunely posted. This session will earn students a 5% of the final grade. Check ANGELCalendar for assigned times.

The main objective of this Angel Chat is to see how easy you can use the Internet Resources.

Research Internet or conduct a library research on the subject of plagiarism. As a result of your research, write a summary (in paragraph form 5-10 sentences) MLA Style.

  •  MS Word 2003 plus.  Late work will not be accepted. The assignment will be worth 5% of the final grade it will not be e-mailed but placed in the ANGEL Drop Box only

Use web pages, books and other scientific sources. Please remember to give credit to the author and the publisher according to rules (APA or MLA).
Oct 18   Students will research the history and historic events regarding the ancient Roman city of  Pompeii They will gather information from Internet, Encyclopedias, libraries, etc., and write a summary of the reading in a 5-10 sentence paragraph followed by a list of their sources.

The paragraph will be written using the:

  Instructors will collect data from eWriting Passing Grade 80% on lesson final quiz.
  Final Examination Date to take the final examination (45%) APA
 

A final writing assignment will be completed by the students.  All students must be present in the assigned classroom/lab.  Administrator-proctor, will help you to drop the final writing assignment to the ANGEL drop box.

The final test will be Wednesday, December 2nd. The test will be held in room 1209 for two hours from 7:00pm (19:00) to 9:00pm (21:00). Make sure to bring a picture ID , on the day of the test. Please, be on time. Also, there is only one session for the test. Therefore make arrangements with work if the day and time of the test represents a conflict.

Week 16

Students work on selected eWriting assignments.(grades) All Pre-Tests and lessons must be completed before taking every Post-Test, and students must follow the strict order given for the e-Writing activities in each selected lesson. Passing Grade: 80% on lesson "post test".

   

Policy Against Academic Dishonesty, Plagiarism:

Please read the section in your Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook regarding plagiarism.  Any form of academic dishonesty will result in an “F” for that test or assignment. 

MDC Cheating Policy:

1st offense = Student receives a grade of “0” on the test or assignment

2nd offense = Student receives “F” grade in the course where the 2nd cheating offense occurs

3rd offense = Student is referred to the Student Dean for dismissal from all classes.
