L. Holly Anderson, Professor
Master of Fine Arts - Screenwriting

Holly Anderson is a tenured film faculty member at Miami-Dade College, specializing in screenwriting and television writing. In addition, she  teaches film production.

Prior to joining Miami-Dade College, Holly was a journalist for the South Florida Business Journal. She then attended the University of Miami, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in motion pictures. She has since completed a Master of Fine Arts in screenwriting from the University of Miami.

As well as a faculty member, Holly is a freelance screenwriter. She has written numerous feature film screenplays, television commercials, industrial/educational videos, and a television pilot (which won an award for “Best Drama” at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival).

In her 20-year film career, Holly has also worked as an assistant editor for an international children’s television program, and in film production in the South Florida area, ranging from feature films, television reality programs, and commercials.

Upon joining Miami-Dade College faculty, Holly discovered there were no film or television writing courses in the film and television program. Holly took the initiative, and was the driving force, to create and start all the film and television writing courses in the department.

Holly is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation.   She has judged submissions for The Entertainment Industry Incubator Short Film Contest, as well as other film contests.
