Calculator Regulations
 
 

 

 



The use of calculators during examinations is a privilege granted to you by your professor.  As such, you must adhere to the following regulations.

 

  1. NO CALCULATORS OTHER THAN THE ONES ON THE LIST BELOW WILL BE ALLOWED DURING EXAMS IN THIS COURSE.
  2. You may not use calculators on mobile phones, or on PDA’s (e.g., Palm Pilots).
  3. Students will not be allowed to share calculators during exams, nor will your professor lend out calculators during the exam. If you fail to bring a calculator to the exam, or if you bring an unacceptable calculator, you will have to carry out all mathematical operations by hand.
  4. If your calculator has any of the following buttons, it is probably programmable and will not be acceptable:

PROG, PGM, CLEAR, CLR

  1. If your calculator has a large screen and can graph functions, it is programmable and will not be acceptable.


Your professor’s recommendation is that you purchase a Texas Instrument Model TI-30Xa.  It is one of the simplest scientific calculators to use and is available at most office supply stores and drug stores.
