Sample Introductory Paragraph by Blanca Fernandez 

        She sits at the breakfast table drinking her morning coffee while I sit across from her and stare. I watch closely as I always have and think about a world without her. There would be no more phone calls regarding my “hectic lifestyle” or those “please don’t do this in public” hugs. I wouldn’t have anyone to fight with about my beliefs and why I don’t think it’s not  a good idea this week, but I might just give it a shot the next. I cant possibly think of what I would do without my mothers nagging that through time I have learned to understand. There would be no more “ let me tell you about what happened at work “ conversations or “ just because your friends are doing it that doesn’t mean you have to” fights that always lead to her large brown confused eyes. It is because of all those uncalled for conversations that have made me who I am today and for that I thank my mother and admire her deeply. My mother not only gave birth to me but has always cared for me and is the most hardworking person I know.
