    EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I believe that the dictates of intellectual honesty and academic integrity should guide students and professors in the classroom.  A commitment to academia requires true engagement with literature, theory, and new ideas.  The classroom is a place for personal development that benefits the individual as well as her community. I believe that in academia, students should learn the skills to analyze ideas and theories for themselves.  In my view, the purpose of education is to create free thinkers who are not restricted by dogmatic philosophies of how one's life and community should be organized.
