Dilated Cardiomyopathy Case Study
Mr. Jones is a 46 year-old man who had an onset of flu and fever. He develped pharyngitis and malaise. A week later he had diffused pericardial chest pain, JVD, dyspnea, and peripheral edema. He was admitted to the hospital with diagnosis of infectious myocarditis and possible dilated cardiomyopathy (CMP). The followings are medications prescribed by his physician:
-digoxin 0.25 mg IV daily
-furosemide 40 mg IV daily
-milrinone 0.28 mcg/kg/min
-enalapril
