ORH 1511 Landscape Plant Identification II #697779 [Mon/Wed 6:00-7:40 p.m.] The identification and correct use of palms, shade trees, shrubs, groundcovers, herbaceous perennials, vines, and native plants in the South Florida landscape. Includes occasional weekend field trips. Prereq ORH1510, 3 credits, Prof. Woodmansee AS degrees,  recommended for AS degree students in landscape and horticulture; also for individuals that would like to prepare for state horticulture certification exams
 

ORH 2932 Special topics—South Florida Horticultural Practices #710974 [Tuesday 6:00-8:00 p.m.] This special topics class is designed for individuals wishing to learn about general horticultural practices in South Florida. Emphasis will be placed on best practices for homeowners in Miami Dade. Class will include field trips to visit examples of well-maintained local gardens. Anyone interested in updating their horticulture skills is encouraged to join. Course will include off-campus weekend fieldtrips. A combination lecture and lab course. 1 credit, SUMMER A TERM, Prof. Wasielewski AS degree (program requirement or elective credit)

ORH 1510 Landscape Plant Identification #706647 [M/W 5:00 p.m. -6:15 a.m.] 3 credits Designed to familiarize students with the identification and usage of plants used in the horticultural trade in South Florida. Emphasis is on basic plant terminology, naming, and identifying hardy landscape groundcovers, shrubs, vines, and trees for our area. Includes occasional weekend field trips. ORH 2277 Foliage Plant Production #714864 [Tues 6:30-9:00 p.m.]. 3 credits  Course designed to cover the basics of plant propagation techniques, potting, and maintenance considerations as well as practice in identification of the most common foliage species in our area. Lecture and lab course; hands-on activities at our nursery and display facility.

BOT 2150C Native Plant Identification & Usage #682371[Fri 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.]

Plants native to South Florida are identified and presented by their typical ecological community. Emphasis is primarily upon pineland, tropical hammock, mangrove and coastal, Everglades marsh, and cypress swamp communities. Plants appropriate for use in urban landscapes as well as in ecological restorations are covered. A combination lecture and lab course. $15 lab fee. 3 credits, Prof. Geiger AA or AS degrees (science elective) recommended for Biology, agriculture, environmental science and landscape majors.

 
LDE 2000 PLANTING DESIGN I
- 4 cr. - Basic drawing techniques, principles of plant design, plan presentation, elements of ecological landscape design, and history of landscape design. $15 Fee Prof. Chormanski AS only

 

 **Landscape Design students - ARC 2171 Computer Aided Drafting 1 (4 cr.) may be substituted for ORH 2835C and ORH 2837C. ARC 1126, Architectural Drawing 1 is a prereq. for ARC 2171 and will be applied as an elective credit.
